Vojta Roček, Partner, Presto Ventures
Vojta Roček, a Partner at Presto Ventures, spoke as openly as he always does. He shared how his company Stories made an instant impact at a US trade fair; getting noticed by a future investor, Workday, who eventually would go on to acquire his business. This once again shows the importance of attending industry fairs and networking events – places where real connections can be made.
“You don’t have to be shy asking for extra funding, while presenting your business plan. If your goal is the US market and you expect a higher budget for certain services or relocation fees, don’t be afraid to ask for it.
We want your business to succeed and if we see the value, we’ll likely support you.”

Josef Šachta, CEO, Sharry
Josef Šachta from Sharry arrived at the last minute for a very good reason. Just hours before our event, he had a meeting at the US Embassy regarding his E2 visa, which was granted! We helped Josef and his team throughout the entire process, and we couldn’t be more thrilled that he will now continue growing his business from the US.
Josef’s team is already in negotiations with a major American tech brand interested in their product. While he couldn’t share more details just yet, it was interesting to hear that one of the stimulations was that coding will not be done using AI. AI may be today’s buzzword, but it’s certainly not the answer to everything. Staying true to your project is always the best policy.
“I was just granted an E2 visa, but back during Covid, when we signed our first US client, we didn’t have one yet. We wrote a letter explaining why our presence in the US was necessary, but it didn’t get us far.
Our client then took it into his own hands, emphasizing that our presence during the duration of the project was essential. In situations like this, you really need support from professionals.”

Simon Dery, US Sales and Client Growth Expert
We connected with Simon Dery some time ago. He has since become our expert on selling in the US. In his short presentation, he covered the most common mistakes companies make when entering the US market. The first: differences in communication styles and negotiation approaches: “Americans don’t care about every tiny detail of your product or solution; you need to build a relationship and earn their trust.”
Simon brought great energy and a touch of the Florida sunshine to our rainy day in Prague. He travels all over the world and believes the Czech Republic has many companies with amazing products ready to succeed in the US market. America is business-oriented, no matter the political situation or how the media may portray it. He truly believes in the great potential of Czech companies. Otherwise, why would he keep coming back so often?
“Americans don’t care about every tiny detail of your product or solution; you need to build a relationship and earn their trust.”
